Manchester United are on the verge of announcing our third summer signing in Nemanja Matic after the Chelsea midfielder was snapped in a United jersey seemingly undergoing his medical or completing his medical.

He was snapped in the no 31 jersey, which is free with Bastian Schweisteiger the last player to wear the number. The news broke out that Matic was to join United in a £40m deal after an agreement was reached with Premier League champions, Chelsea over his transfer. Matic has been left out of Chelsea pre-season tour of Asia as he negotiates a move from Stamford Bridge.

However, here’s how he will look in our red and white jersey.

Jose Mourinho had been keen on a reunion with the defensive midfielder, who he feels will add steel to his midfield. Speaking after the 3-0 win over Valerenga, he told MUTV, “I’m waiting for news. I know he wants that very, very much and when a player wants very, very much the chance is bigger, the chance is bigger, so I think we have a chance.” he added.

The player, who turns 29 on Tuesday, could be in line for his debut against Sampdoria on Wednesday after failing to extend his contract, and with the arrival of Tiemoue Bakayoko, he is likely not to start. The deal was held up after disagreements over add-on clauses and bonuses, but is now set to be announced in the next 24 hours, the Telegraph reports.

Matic is a specialist defensive midfielder known for his tackling, passing and interception skills. He is a proven Premier League winner with knowledge of working with Jose Mourinho and will offer a more sturdy presence in midfield, and offer Paul Pogba the platform to excel in a more advanced role.

United have already splashed out £100m on the signings of Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof and are looking the part of title favourites.

He was signed by Mourinho for Chelsea back in January 2014 and has become a mainstay in two title-winning teams in that time, making 151 appearances in that time and scoring on 7 occasions.

I really do not like the fact that Man Utd is tryna sell Fellaini and get Matic. No the deals don’t worth it at all..even as we need a holding midfielder Fella shouldn’t be allowed an exit. Renato Sanches, Marco Varetti, Eric Dier are all better and still have long time to play in age wise.
