Press Red: July 7th: Ramos ‘Agrees Terms’, No New Schneiderlin Bid

The big news breaking yesterday afternoon was the story from AS that Sergio Ramos has already agreed a contract with Manchester United. Of course, this means little without the most important part – an agreement between the Reds and Real Madrid – but it is, if true, a significant development.

After all, there was ostensibly resistance from both player and club as Ramos is reluctant to leave after more than ten years but if United have got an agreement with Ramos then that theoretically means the probable conclusion of the defender signing a new deal is not quite so set in stone.

Perhaps this news is partly what has provoked United’s stance according stories in the MEN – they are now adamant that De Gea and Ramos won’t be playing together for Madrid next year.

The Spanish giants fly out for their pre-season tour on Friday so it will be interesting to see what happens between now and then.

Ronald Koeman admitted that United did make an offer for Morgan Schneiderlin but that it was rejected. Since then, a couple of weeks back, no chance.

After Nani completed his move to Fenerbahce, Sky Sports reported that Rafael may well too go to Turkey – to Galatasaray – or even Italy. If he goes to Italy, he may see Matteo Darmian go the other way.

Remember yesterday’s strange story about Mario Gotze. It’s about to get stranger. After Angel Di Maria suffered a hamstring injury, the Mirror say the Star are saying that the Bild report that Bayern are offering Thomas Muller and Arjen Robben in exchange for United’s record signing. And, on top of that, they’re offering an unspecified cash sum.

Hmm..

What’s happening now with Otamendi? Before the Copa America everyone was lining up to buy him. Last week his agent was quoted as saying he’ll “be at his new club long before Ramos leaves Madrid”. Yet no rumours of him going anywhere any more.
