Press Red: Nothing, Nothing, and Nani

Well done Wayne Rooney who can now enjoy a summer after scoring the winning goal for England yesterday, taking him to 48 international goals alongside Gary Lineker. A good day for Manchester United who can now boast the number one and two goalscorers for the country.

But nervousness followed, the trepidation of the end of football for 2014/15 bringing the plethora of names in transfer rumours… so we waited… and nothing.

Sure, you’ll read stuff. Firmino regurgitation. Even the lingering rumour of Felipe Anderson for £30m features in some areas of the press. And something about Cillessen of Ajax after yesterday’s stories.

But really, there’s nothing.

A bit of talk about Robin van Persie wanting to fight for his future.

We were a little interested about a story linking Luis Nani with a move to Fenerbahce. Let’s be clear, we think Nani has a lot of talent, and would probably be seen as one of the best players in the country if he played for Arsenal, but, it’s clear that a move would be best for all parties. Still, that story is from the Metro, so, while Nani may be moving, and may even move to Turkey, don’t expect anything imminent.

Still, even when there is nothing but the blowing of the wind, never let it be said that we don’t make some attempt to bring you what little morsels there are.
