Manchester United suffered a confidence-shattering draw against Arsenal last Saturday that meant that their wobbling form in the Premier League continues. On Thursday, the Theatre of Dreams play host to Feyenoord in a Europa league tie. The second tier European competition is very winnable, and it offers a route back to the Champions League peradventure the team don’t qualify to the competition by virtue of their final league position. We run a rule on the probable lineup that could feature in the match against Philip Cocu’s men. They are currently placed third in Group A, though just a point behind Fenerbache who occupy top spot.

Goalkeeper:

The magnitude of this game means Sergio Romero had to be content with a place on the bench once again. David de Gea will start once again. The 26 year old Spaniard is still the man for the big occasions.

Defence:

Antonio Valencia started the game against the Gunners despite just recovering from injury. He should be rested for this one to ensure he is in the best condition for the weekend. Phil Jones has played well recently and should partner Daley Blind in defence. Mattel Darmian should keep his place in the team, albeit at right back while Marcos Rojo should slot in at left back. The options at United are not much at the moment defensively, as the likes of Bailly, Shaw and Smalling are still out injured.

Midfield:

The midfield trio of Pogba, Herrera and Carrick should start after their performance against Arsenal over the weekend. Mourinho is still not fully convinced by Morgan Schneiderlin while Fellaini is still not fully fit. The presence of Carrick and Herrera means Pogba has more freedom to express himself on the pitch. Unless Jose does a Guardiola, then Schweinsteiger will get to play as he is still out in the cold.

Attack:

Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Henrikh Mkhitaryan will get his chance and should get to start. Jesse Lingard will offer pace from the wings while Zlatan Ibrahimovic should get the nod to lead the attack after being suspended in the domestic game against Arsenal.

Expected lineup(4-3-3): De Gea, Darmian, Jones, Blind, Shaw, Carrick, Herrera, Pogba, Mkhitaryan, Lingard, Ibrahimovic.
