Manchester United are interested in signing Manchester City youngster Cameron Humphreys, the Mail report.
16 year old Humphreys has been on City’s pre-season tour of Australia and the Far East and – apparently – has not looked out of place as a centre half. Newcastle and Everton are also reportedly interested.
From the Mail:
Manchester City starlet Cameron Humphreys is attracting attention from Manchester United, Newcastle and Everton.
The 16-year-old has been utilised by Manuel Pellegrini as the starting centre-back against Melbourne City and Real Madrid during City’s pre-season tour
Humphreys has made giant strides during his time at City. He was originally at Oldham but left after becoming disillusioned there and went to play Sunday League football again where City spotted him.
He played for England U17s as a 14-year-old and is on a two year scholar’s contract at Eastlands.
However, the New Moston-born defender can’t turn professional until his 17th birthday, at the end of August, and United and Newcastle are ready to make offers.
Meanwhile, United have managed to keep hold of a teenager of their own who was being coveted by a local rival. 16 year old Callum Gribbin has signed a one year scholarship and a three year professional contract which will follow it.
Liverpool had shown an interest in the youngster.
He tweeted, ‘Happy to sign a 4 year deal.. Good things take time, now time to focus on the season ahead! Blessed.’
