Retro Review: From Malta To Wembley

At a recent Dinner at Old Trafford we were introduced, by a friend, to Joe Glanville a big Manchester United Supporter from Malta. We had already heard of Joe and his involvement with the Manchester United Supporters Club in Malta, but this was the first time that we had met him. Joe is also a really big Manchester United Collector and he has recently brought out a fantastic book on Manchester United’s historic 1967-68 European Cup winning campaign.

The majority of the items in this book are from Joe Glanville’s personal Manchester United memorabilia collection and many items in there are very rare indeed. Looking through the newspaper reports which cover all the matches, including the build ups and match details, of that season’s campaign you get a really detailed insight into that European campaign.

Speaking to Joe, he told us that the book had taken a number of years to complete and this can be seen with the amount of high quality material in the book. Joe also told us that the book has been funded through sponsorship from businesses and also from supporters now buying the book, with over €40,000 being raised. The money raised from the book is then going to the Puttinu Cares Foundation, for families of children with Cancer.

For those interested in the history of Manchester United, this book is definitely recommended. Speaking to others that have already also bought this book, they too have been impressed with it.

To order the book, it can be order from Keith’s Programmes and can be collected from his stall next to Red Star Sports and The Bishop Blaize Pub on matchdays at Old Trafford.

It can also be ordered through Manchester United Malta’s official website.
