Chelsea midfielder, Nemanja Matic is desperate to sign for Manchester United and has even told his teammates that a move to Old Trafford will interest him, according to Daily Express.
As per same report, the 28-year-old Serbian has been the subject of a transfer chase by Jose Mourinho who is keen on reuniting with his former player, and has set his sights on a £40m deal. Matic is said to be afraid for his first team place amidst reports of an impending move for Monaco midfielder, Tiemoue Bakayoko who is expected to sign the dotted lines.
Chelsea however, are open to Matic leaving the country instead of signing to a direct rival, not excluding United. The Old Trafford outfit hijacked the transfer of Romelu Lukaku from under the noses of the Premier League champions, meaning the sale of Matic could be ditched to the fact that The Blues will not want to strengthen a direct title rival.
Cesc Fabregas has received assurances about his future from boss, Antonio Conte meaning that the 30-year-old attacking midfielder is to stay at The Bridge for at least another season, throwing Matic’s future in the air.
Matic is a defensive midfielder widely recognized for his power and ability to stop opposition forays. Matic has been training on his own since returning for pre-season due to injury but it is rumoured that it is because his heart is no longer with the Premier League champions. He re-joined Chelsea in January 2014, and has scored 7 goals in 151 matches in that time, and winning two league titles and a League cup.
