Manchester united have been linked to Chelsea enforcer, Nemanja Matic, for most of the transfer window. The Serbian superstar is wanted by Jose Mourinho to add bite and solidity to his midfield, and sees his former player as the best player to perform that role perfectly.

Despite Chelsea signing Tiemoue Bakayoko as 28-year-old Matic’s potential replacement, the Blues are reluctant to see Matic line up for a direct title rival and will instead prefer to sell abroad.

The former Chelsea man is rebuilding his reputation on the south coast for Southampton after an underwhelming spell at Stamford Bridge.

The La Masia graduate has found his joy for football at the St. Mary’s stadium after a nasty injury some years ago. He does his job professionally without any fuss, preferring to do the job of stopping opposition play, rather than looking for the goals and assists. Jose Mourinho needs a selfless player that will screen the defence and with his Barcelona background, has the technical brilliance to match his brawn.
