4-2-3-1: How Man United could line up with Alexis Sanchez in attack

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal star, Alexis Sanchez and are ready to offer the Gunners a player plus cash deal to persuade them into selling their prized asset. The Chilean forward was set for a move to City, but it would seem that United have gone ahead of our rivals for the signature of the player, which would represent a huge statement of intent on our part.

The player has refused to sign a new contract at The Emirates, and Arsenal would be open to selling him this month so as not to lose him on a free transfer come summer. We take a look at how United can lineup with Sanchez in our side.

Goalkeeper

Spanish number 1, David de Gea has been exceptional yet again this season and has kept 12 clean sheets in the Premier League this season, the most by any goal custodian. He is widely regarded as one of the best in his trade and is the club’s undisputed no 1.

Defence

José Mourinho largely prefers a 4-man defence and the quartet of Valencia, Jones, Bailly and Shaw will be looking to solidify their claims for first team football. Valencia is an ever dependable right back who has made that position his own. At left back, Luke Shaw is slowly showing signs of form and fitness and could make that position his own for a long time.

The player has been beset by injuries ever since joining our club but is looking good as he is overcoming his mental challenges that have held him back despite his fitness. In the heart of defence, a partnership of Jones and Bailly is expected, as both men have an understanding of how the other plays.

Midfield

The arrival of Nemanja Matic has been the game changer for United in the midfield and has helped Paul Pogba play his best football. Both players would be comfortable playing in the pivot of midfield as a pair. Further forward in the attacking midfield role, a trio of Sanchez, Lingard and Martial would worry any opposition defence all day long.

Sanchez would offer quality coming in from the left, shooting, cutting inside and creating for his teammates while jn the hole behind the striker, Jesse Lingard will be hoping to continue his remarkable run of form as he has improved his end product in recent weeks. On the right, young Frenchman, Anthony Martial will be looking to disturb opposition defenders with his dribbling and mesmerising skills.

Attack

Romelu Lukaku is still the number 1 striker at United despite his slump and will still come good as his quality is undoubted.

Probable lineup: De Gea, Valencia, Jones, Bailly, Shaw, Matic, Pogba, Sanchez, Lingard, Martial, Lukaku.
