According to reports from Daily Express, Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho is pondering over making a shock move for Chelsea defender, David Luiz. The 30 year old Brazilian centre back was dropped by manager, Antonio Conte for the 1-0 victory over United last time out, as shocking reports have emerged about a spectacular disagreement between player and manager.
The football world was shocked when Luiz was left out of the Chelsea squad to face United two weeks ago, with young defender, Andreas Christensen taking his place in the middle of the three-man defence, and the youngster impressed sufficiently as he marked out Romelu Lukaku for the entire duration of the game.
Chelsea have seen former midfielder, Nemanja Matic join United last summer of which many questioned the rationale behind the decision. Matic has since looked like a decent addition to our club, but it is interesting to see how Luiz fits in at our club. It is reported that Conte has sanctioned the transfer of Luiz away from Stamford Bridge after the former PSG star questioned his methods following a 3-0 loss away at Roma in the Champions League.
The Italian manager was also not impressed with the player’s reaction after being substituted in the first leg against the Italians. Antonio Conte has had major issues with some Chelsea players with the likes of Costa and Matic leaving the club last summer despite being key members of two title winning squads. Luiz was majestic for The Blues last season as they won the league with a record 30 wins out of 38 matches.
Mourinho managed Luiz in his first season back at Chelsea in 13/14 with the Portuguese tactician not impressed with his forays going forward. He started just 15 league games and was subsequently sold to PSG for £50m as José said he won’t be missed at the club.
Jose may have been impressed with his maturity but it is important to see how he will fit in at our club given that we boast the best defensive record in the league. He is a centre back that can play as a defensive midfielder. He is known as a likeable character that his teammates and club fans love so much.
Luiz is a Brazil international that has won The Champions League, FA Cup, Europa League and Premier League in two separate spells with the Premier League champions. He will be a good addition to our team as his positivity transcends throughout the squad.
