We are sure to see new players added to the rank at Old Trafford next term and Jose Mourinho is already keeping tabs on some high-profile players.
If there is something Mourinho’s team has lacked this term, is adequate fire power upfront. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been done very well as the lone-striker most times but his age means, he may not retain the same form next season.
Being a proactive manager, Mourinho has been linked with a move for France international and Atletico Madrid star attacker Antoine Griezmann. However, the French has drawn attraction from Real Madrid but report claims Griezmann will favour a move to Old Trafford that Santiago Bernabeu.
Although, it is widely reported that Griezmann has pledged his future to the Rojiblancos, but their recent form and the uncertainty over the future of Diego Simeone is touted as the two factors that may see the lethal and versatile attacker exit the Vicente Calderon.
According to the Independent, Griezmann was quizzed about a possible move to Madrid, and he insisted it would be difficult to move from Atletico Madrid to Real Madrid, leaving Man United as his most probable destination.
“I do not rule out anything in the future, but I’m happy at Atletico and hopefully I can stay here,” he said.
“Interest from Madrid? I can’t say “yes” or “no”. You never know what can happen in football, but moving from Atletico to Real, I don’t know if it’s achievable.
Mourinho may be faced with lack of squad depth if he doesn’t sign players next season. The ages and form of Rooney and Carrick means he must bolster his midfield and attack.
