Arsenal : David May previews

Former Manchester United defender David May previews the game at Arsenal on Sunday.

This game must be the last chance the Gunners have of getting back into the title race. Even if they win I don’t see them getting past us or Chelski. It always seems to happen with Wenger’s sides over the last five or six seasons, they do really well and keep the challenge going until around March/April time and then they fade away.

I think the defeat to Birmingham in the Carling Cup has had a big impact; Wenger was relying on that to prove to his players they are good enough to win trophies but yet again they missed a fantastic chance to put a lot of the negative press behind them and move on. They are still a good football side, sometimes I have to admit I do enjoy watching them pass the ball around and the funny thing is if Wenger had swallowed some pride and bought Gary Cahill, Scott Parker and a decent keeper in the summer they easily could have been champions. It’s been a crazy season with the top teams all dropping points and he should have taken advantage.

That’s enough about the Gunners, onto the greatest team in the world!!! I would expect the Gaffer to set up in a similar way to how we played against Schalke on Tuesday. Which by the way was a superb performance and all of the lads should be very proud of themselves because barring an absolute nightmare at Old Trafford we should be on our way to Wembley!!! Wazza has found himself the perfect role in the team; he drops back into midfield when we need him, scores and sets up goals at crucial times and seems to be loving life again. His partnership with the Little Pea has the potential to be something very special indeed; dare I say the new Cole and Yorke? Let’s hope so. We have played really well at the Emirates recently; I can remember us scoring a few on the counter attack and I think it was last season when Nani really showed what he can do. I am predicting a tight first half and then I think our class will show with around twenty minutes left. COME ON UNITED!!!!

DANGER MAN: Cesc Fabregas

Ok he was the obvious choice, I have a picked him for a few reasons. The main one is he keeps the Gunners ticking over, similar to Schosey in that respect, he can dictate the flow and pace of the game while the others make space around him. He might not be the type of captain that Adams or Vieira was but the players respect him and know he has the ability to unlock most defences. If he goes to Barcelona in the summer he would be a massive loss for Arsenal and I am not sure Wenger could afford to replace him.

The next United Night I am organising is a week on Sat, 7th May, the day before we play Chelski. It is a Norman Whiteside Special, it is also his birthday!!!!! Tickets are available on the official website or you can pay on the door, if you are in Manchester that weekend it is the place to be!!!!

Keep the Red Flag Flying!!!

Score Prediction : We are going to win 3-1, Evra to score!!! Ha ha, you never know!!!!
