Barcelona manager Luis Enrique says that he expects the saga involving Pedro to be resolved imminently.
There were reports last week that the player was due to have a medical and join as soon as today; however, with Barcelona in need of a senior forward for their Super Cup game, they have not agreed to any offer made by United.
Indeed, the comments made by Enrique suggest that this saga may well end the same way as the one with Sergio Ramos – Pedro’s patience and reliability may end with him being promised a more prominent role this season, though it will surely be too difficult for him to expect to be a starter in their strongest first team.
“Having all players throughout the season is what I would expect,” said Enrique. “We’ve talked a lot about Pedro and soon we will have (a) solution.”
These words do indicate that he doesn’t expect to lose his player – however, at least one way or another we should expect to know within the next few days.
However Marca have even gone as far as to suggest that Pedro may wait to play the Spanish Super Cup to ‘add another medal to his collection’. The second leg of that tie is next Monday – which would mean Pedro would certainly miss the first leg of United’s Champions League playoff even if he did sign.
