Inter Milan director, Piero Ausilio had confirmed that Manchester United have shown interest in signing 28-year-old Croatian international, Ivan Perisic, but that no official bid has been made. The Old Trafford outfit are reportedly interested in the player’s signature, but the £48m asking fee is likely to be a stumbling block.
Jose Mourinho was reportedly on a scouting mission on the former Wolfsburg man in an international earlier in the season. However, the 20-time English champions are willing to offer only £36m for the player. Manchester United manager, Mourinho has enjoyed a fruitful first season in charge of the team, and is already looking at players to enhance the squad ahead of next season.
Ausilio, the Inter Milan director told Premium Sport, via Metro, said,
“[United] made us an official offer for Perisic but their interest is there, we want to improve Inter and this is why we do not have any sellable or un-sellable players as of now.
“We know that we already have many important players within our roster like Perisic and before we decide to sell him, we have to think about what’s best for Inter.
“For me we have an as good squad or maybe even a better squad than most of the teams who finished ahead of us.” he added.
Perisic has been in sensational form all season, but could be sold as Inter are struggling to meet up with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations. The 18-time Serie A champions have been atrocious form all season and United have been touted as a possible destination for the player, who is interested in playing in the lucrative Champions League. Perisic is a good two-footed attacking midfielder, capable of playing on either flank in attacking midfield. He is tricky, fast and can score all sorts of goals.
