Jose Mourinho always gets his man. This is typified in the deal which saw Pedro Rodriguez joined Chelsea from Barcelona in the summer 2015. The Spaniard was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford Chelsea’s then manager Jose Mourinho usurped Manchester United to his signature.
However, there are indications that the Portuguese tactician may need to up his game because his transfer target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic of Lazio has agreed a new five-year contract with the Biancocelesti. This report is according to Daily Star.
The report stated that Milinkovic-Savic has been under the watch of Manchester United, who had their scout present at Lazio’s game against Napoli last weekend. The Serbian international has now committed his future with the Stadio Olimpico landlords.
Confirming the deal, Lazio posted the following statement on their website:
“SS Lazio announces that the athlete Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has extended his contract until 2022.”
Milinkovic-Savic joined the Italian outfit from Genk in the summer of 2015 but has since being a regular for his club.
Jose Mourinho’s side may be decimated at the end of the season as the club is uncertain of the future of Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick and even Zlatan Ibrahimovic. United are expected to be heavily involved with the signing of players in the summer.
Milinkovic-Savic is not very well known in Europe but he can take the EPL by storm like Ngolo Kante did for Leicester City and Chelsea. The 22-year-old central midfield is adept at winning aerial duels and he is also good at passing the ball.
