Two good wins this week and each game has been bigger than the last, next up is a trip to Anfield. These games always have a massive build up and mean more to the fans than any other fixture.
The only worry I have is that the emotion surrounding the match might start to affect the players. It’s not easy playing under so much pressure when the world is watching and they will all have to be on their best behaviour. We played really well in the second half against Wigan last weekend and although we weren’t as dominant against Galatasaray in mid-week we got the result we needed after a poor campaign in the Champions League last season.
We should have scored a few more, Carrick and the goal keeper did well, it was great to see Fletch back and as always Nani frustrated me like no other player can. I still think he’s a match winner, has incredible skill and ability but I wish the penny dropped a few more times with him. But to be fair wingers have always been inconsistent and he does contribute more than some players do.
I can see the Gaffer going with experience against the Scousers. I would expect Giggs and Scholes to play in a five man midfield. Kagawa can always push on to support RVP when we get good possession. Carrick needs to get on the ball as much as he can, keep passing it simple and start to dictate play from kick off. That will frustrate Liverpool who will be looking to start quickly. We have better quality players all over the pitch and if we can keep our heads, concentrate, not making any silly mistakes, I can see us getting on top in the second half with a goal or two.
