David May Preview : Manchester City

There is not much left to say about United and City derbies, everyone has their favourite memory from over the years.

There’s the hat-trick from Kanchelskis, the Cantona inspired comeback, Owens late winner in Fergie Time and Wazza’s overhead goal of the season.

Very rarely are they dull affairs. The game this Sunday is just as big if not bigger than most of the games in history and I would much rather be in our position going into it. If we win, we put some daylight between us and the rest, it puts more pressure on City after they went out of Europe and it gives are lad’s an incredible boost going into the crazy festive fixtures. Draw and nothing much changes, they will be on our heels for the rest of the campaign. Lose…. Well then we are level at the top and it all begins again!

The gaffer usually relies on experience in these type of matches, five in midfield with the wingers supporting Wazza. However with the arrival of RVP and the injuries to Nani and Valencia we might just see something different. I would love him to go with two up front, start quick right from the off and give them something to think about. Like we did in the FA Cup there last season, we were three up at the break and although we let it slightly slip in the second half we proved that when we play with that kind of tempo and intensity not many teams can live with us. I can’t wait!

Score Prediction : United to win 2-1!
