So Wazza and RVP started upfront together in mid-week and their partnership got off to a flyer. They both have incredible vision, usually a perfect touch and a deadly finish. The two goals against Cluj demonstrated all that and they are only going to get better.
Are we seeing another Cole/Yorke combo, one can drop off into space, while the other gets poised to strike in the box. At times in 99 Cole and Yorke seemed to have a telepathic understanding, it would be great to see that again today. And if for one reason or another it’s not working out we always have Danny or the Little Pea to bring off the bench!!!
Overall I was very happy with the win away in Europe, although we don’t know much about some of these teams they can often pull off a surprise result. We are already looking like we will progress through the group and seem to be writing the wrongs of last season.
Onto the game this weekend, St James Park is never an easy place to go and similar to Spurs the matches are usually exciting goal filled games. With the injuries we still have at the back and the quality we have going forward I can see this being another classic encounter. Alan Pardew has them playing well, Ba and Cisse will cause any team problems, they have a decent midfield including Ben Arfa, Cabaye and Tiote. That must be one of the strongest in the League. Their fans always get behind the team and I can see them having another good season. I can see the Ginger Prince coming back into our team, controlling the tempo of the match, picking passes and hopefully leading us to victory!
Prediction : United are going to win 4-3!
