David May Preview: Tottenham

Well where shall I start this week?

I thought the England game was pointless, nobody cares about international football until a tournament and even then it just gets the whole country depressed when we get knocked out. If I was Harry I would stay where I am, he has created a fantastic Tottenham team that sits third in the League, gets better every season, has some incredible players and yet he might let someone else come in and finish off all his good work, so he can go and get slaughtered in the press after a couple of dodgy results. NO THANK YOU!

I remember when Newcastle were everyone’s favourite second team, they played exciting football but never won anything so it was ok to cheer them on against City and the Scousers!!!! Well these days Spurs seem to be the side that everyone wants to see do well, I don’t have a problem with that and I thought it was quite refreshing to see them hang onto their best players in the summer, instead of selling them to Chelski. However that does mean Modric, Bale and Adebayor will need to be watched very carefully on Sunday, they got spanked at Arsenal last week so they will be a little lower on confidence than usual.

I can see us getting the first goal, their heads will drop and we can control the match from there. We will have to be weary of the counter attack but I know the Gaffer will have the players ready for that!

Danger man: Gareth Bale

I was gutted when he went to Spurs instead of coming to United in 2007, everyone was raving about the kid, he said his favourite player was Giggsy and I knew the Gaffer would be able to get the best out of him so when he signed for Tottenham I was surprised. Then he seemed to struggle with the step up in class. You get less time on the ball and every mistake is punished in the Premier League, Gareth learnt that the hard way. After his tricky start he has gone from strength to strength and you would have to say he is now one of the biggest stars in the top flight. He has great pace, good delivery and fantastic technique. I think he would be the perfect replacement for Ryan, fingers crossed we see him wearing the devil one day!!!!

Prediction : United are gonna win 3-1 against Tottenham… will Giggsy score again???

With King,Walker,Parker,Bale,VDV along with Gallas and Hudds injured we will have a much weakened team.

For this reason (and our terrible record against your team) I would be delighted with a draw.

Confidence will be low as you mentioned so I can see Harry going 4-5-1 with Sandro,Livermore and Modric and Lennon and Krank wide. Hopefully those midfield 3 will protect our defence.

Hopeyou win the league(assuming we don’t). Good luck AFTER this weekend.

Bale has returned for Spurs and as you said, he’s the guy to watch out for. Saha has fit like a glove in the Spurs team and he’ll be looking to score against us. With city winning week week in and week out, we can’t afford a draw. Rooney’s return will definitely boost the morale of the team. I predict a narrow, hard fought victory for us.
