David May Preview: Tottenham

It was an odd game against Liverpool last weekend, we were obviously not at our best but picking up all three points was the most important thing. It took their goal to get us going and if they hadn’t scored it might have ended up as a boring nil nil.

It’s funny but the last few times we have won there I remember us getting battered, hanging on and then nicking it in the last few minutes. John O’Shea scoring at the Kop end in 2007 is one of my all time favourite memories and we were rubbish that day.

On a positive note, Robin van Persie scored from the penalty spot, none of our lads got sent off, Nani can’t get any worse and the Scousers are in a relegation battle!!!!

I thought we did well against the Toon in mid-week, it was great to see Tom score his first goal for the club. I couldn’t believe that when they said it in commentary, in my head he had already scored plenty but that must have been in pre-season or something… To be fair he has had enough chances and if he wants to stay in the side he will have to score on a fairly regular basis. He has the quality to succeed at United but it’s never easy, you have to work hard every day and earn everything you get. The kids in defence did really well too and I can see them all having a future in the game, hopefully it’s with us but if not they will still make a living playing for someone else because they have been brought up the right way.

Onto Spurs this Saturday and I actually think it is a good time to play Andres Villas-Boas’ side because I see them getting better as the season progresses. He has a decent squad and although the likes of Modric left, Bale has enough quality to win a game on his own. We will have to be on our toes at the back, start quickly, keep them under pressure and punish their mistakes.

Prediction : 3-1 to United
