Former Red Devil Lee Roche believes that United need to be more dynamic in attack than they were last season if they are to challenge for the Premier League title.
Speaking exclusively to Retro United the former United defender, who made three appearances for the first team between 2001 and 2003 before going on to play for Burnley, Wrexham and Droylsden says that the team needs time to gel together after five new players have been brought in so far this summer and needs to show more ideas in attack, something that is engraved in the traditions of the club.
“I think they’ve got a lot of good players and I think it’s just a case of fitting them all together. I saw quite a lot of the games last year and they seemed to struggle up front, I don’t think they had the players with pace like they have had in the past.
“They’d get into the final third but weren’t able to make that bit of difference and a lot of the goals were scored from set pieces. Hopefully this year with Depay the new striker they’ve brought in they’ll have a bit more pace up front and be a bit more attacking and play a little bit quicker at times.
“The Old Trafford crowd really want to see United go and attack, so I think a little bit more of that wouldn’t go amiss because they have got good players it’s just about them all gelling together and hopefully they can kick on and do well this year.”
