I remember going to 3 testimonial matches at Old Trafford in the space of 16 months, for Albiston, then Moran and then Duxbury. All those guys fully deserved their testimonials. They all got much better turn outs than poor Norman Whiteside in 1992 when less than 10,000 turned up, as fans were gutted about us losing the title to Leeds.

I was there too, in the Stretford End, right in the middle, my usual place, right in the middle of the red fence above the old Stretty tunnel. I loved Mike in the United shirt, in my opinion he has been our most under rated player in modern times, hands down. He was an excellent defender. I also remember after the match, when Mike with kids in hand did his lap of honour. I was the only one lft standing in the Stretty, I was waiting for Mike to do his lap, as he went by I raised my hands and clapped him, he waved back, or rather he clenched his fist and acknowledged me, Great memories of a great player.
