Manchester United manager José Mourinho could be set for another raid on his former club, Chelsea as reports have emerged that the Portuguese is interested in bringing Brazilian centre-back, Davidson Luiz to Old Trafford.
The 30-year-old defender featured for the first time in 13 matches for the Blues in the goalless draw away at Norwich in the FA Cup third round and has been linked to an exit away from Stamford Bridge. Luiz has seen his Chelsea future come under scrutiny after a falling out with Antonio Conte and the emergence of young Danish player, Andreas Christensen.
Daily Express reports that United are interested in bringing Luiz to Manchester as summer signing, Victor Lindelof despite his improvement in recent months, has not really lived up to the hype sorrounding his arrival at the club. Luiz has been linked with a winter move away from Chelsea as he still harbours hope of a place in Brazil’s squad for the 2018 World Cup to be held in Russia. The news in the media lately has been about the bitter exchanges between Chelsea manager Antonio Conte and his United counterpart, Mourinho as both men have come out hard for each other.
This bad blood between both men may hamper any talk of Luiz joining United, but Nemanja Matic also made the divide last summer despite the animosity between the men. Luiz was dropped by Conte after the player criticised his tactics in the 3-0 away loss to Roma in the Champions League and he also suffered a knee injury that has also alluded to his absence. There seems to be no way back for him, despite him only re-joining the league champions and being an integral part of their success last term.
He will offer quality to our side if signed though both clubs have not agreed a fee but is believed contact has been made with the player’s representatives.
