Kevin Pilkington Review : Fulham

Kevin joined us for a re-cap of the Fulham game.

Yolkie : The Fulham game was as comfortable as could be expected. Nice run out for O’Shea and Anderson after their injuries as well – what did you think of the performance?

Kevin : I thought it was a very comfortable performance. I don’t think Fulham caused United too many problems and Kuszczak only had one meaningful save to make (a very good one mind). It was nice to see players returning from injury at a crucial stage of the season.

Yolkie : Berbatov scored again but it’s expected he won’t start against Chelsea on Tuesday. Is that harsh on Berba or do you think Rooney and Chicharito are deserved first choices now?

Kevin : It’s a little bit harsh on Berbatov but I think Rooney and Hernandez are starting to form a formidable partnership. They compliment each other really well and most importantly are scoring goals. Wouldn’t surprise me if Sir Alex just played Rooney up top on his own tomorrow though.

Yolkie : Valencia’s goal was a great reward for him – he’s been brilliant since he came back. How impressed have you been with his return from injury?

Kevin : It’s great to have Valencia back in the team and his return from what was a horrible injury has gone far better than expected. To come back from in injury that bad is one thing but to be putting in very good performances is another. Shows what a strong character he is and it was great to see him score on Saturday.

Yolkie : United seem to be winning games at a canter since Fergie was sent to the stands! He’ll be back on the touchline soon; how much do the players notice his presence and how much of a help do you think it might be to any nerves as we look to make history?

Kevin : I don’t think it will affect the players that much that Sir Alex is in the stands. Most if the talking is done before the game and at half time. If anything needs to be changed during the game I’m sure Mike Phelan has license to let the players know. Also you have seen that Sir Alex has his phone next to him in the stands! On Saturday I don’t think there was too much that needed saying as it was very comfortable and hopefully they can keep it up till the end of the season.
