Ahead of this weekend’s crucial FA Cup clash to Derby County, Manchester United have been handed a huge transfer boost as the trio of Marouane Fellani, Michael Carrick and Romelu Lukaku are all back training and may feature at some point in the match. Spewing at his pre-match press conference ahead of the against the second-placed team in The Championship, Mourinho hinted that Carrick is back in training after a routine heart procedure.
United will be taking the FA Cup seriously given that we are almost out of reckoning in the league, and we were also dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Championship side, Bristol City in what is still our worst result of the season so far.
Romelu Lukaku is back after a nasty injury in the 0-0 draw at home to Burnley last weekend. The 24 year-old Belgian, who has been much maligned this season despite an electric start to life at Old Trafford suffered a collision of heads and came worse off than his opponent. He was stretchered off in what was supposed to keep him out for a long time, but it’s good that he is nearing full fitness.
Fellaini should also get to play after missing the last 11 matches due to injury. The Belgian has been really missed and should slot straight into the starting 11. United face Derby on Friday night at Old Trafford hoping to progress to the 4th round of the Cup.
Despite speculation surrounding his future, Fellaini will be hoping to get back to form and work his way back to the thoughts of his manager.
Carrick, the club captain is entering the twilight of his career and this season may be the end of what has been a fantastic career till date while Lukaku will be looking to get back to the early season form that saw him register 11 goals in his first 10 matches, a new club record.
