The second competitive season for Newton Heath LYR saw the club once again compete in the Lancashire Cup and also make its first entry into the Manchester and District Senior Cup.

The 4-0 September win over Haydock Temperence was the first recorded win for the club and although they were defeated in the next round, they were to face much more success in their second competition of the season, getting all the way to the final.
