The 1936–37 season was Manchester United’s 41st season in the Football League.

Scott Duncan spent well over £10,000 signing Roy John, Ernie Thompson, Henry Baird, Billy Wrigglesworth and Willie Gladwin, but they were unable to take the club to safety.

At the end of the season, United finished in the 21st place and were relegated back to the Second Division. There were some positive moments during the season, though, including an early season home win over neighbours Manchester City which watched by nearly 69,000 fans.
