“I would take him in a heartbeat” – Man United fans urge club to sign prolific attacker

After seeing Mesut Ozil star in Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over North London rivals, Manchester United fans have taken to social media to extol his virtues and urge our great club to sign the German playmaker. Ozil, 29 has been linked to a reunion with former manager, Jose Mourinho in the January transfer window and it would seem that his performance in the clash against Spurs over the weekend has seen his stock rise yet again.

Ozil, alongside contract rebel, Alexis Sanchez were majestic in the win, but United fans took special praise to Ozil. Ozil is in the final year of his contract at Arsenal and has refused to sign an extension on his current deal, leading to speculation that Jose could make a move for him. The German wizard has had his commitment questioned by a lot of football fans, mostly fans and legends of Arsenal, but he gave a timely reminder of his quality with a brilliant performance against Spurs, who looked like favourites heading into the clash at The Emirates.

Ozil won the Man of The Match and below are some of the best tweets by United fans concerning his performance.

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has consistently said his best players won’t join rival clubs but he may be powerless to stop Ozil joining the United revolution, as he will be available on a free transfer come next summer. The Arsenal hierarchy may be willing to sell Ozil in January so as to get some money off his transfer and Ozil has never hidden his intention of working for Mourinho once again. Both men enjoyed a great working relationship at Real Madrid, with Ozil playing his best football under the Portuguese tactical master.

A fee of around £20m may be enough to lure him to Old Trafford in the winter transfer window. He will be an upgrade on our current options in that department as his creativity in the league is probably rivalled by Kevin de Bruyne and Cesc Fabregas.

Ozil is a classy, left footed creative wizard known for picking passes out in the tightest of spaces. He joined Arsenal in 2013 from Real Madrid in a then club-record deal of £42m and has since won Three FA Cup titles in four years. He will be a key addition to our squad as we look to challenge for the title and Champions League. He will be eligible for the Champions League, another plus.
