Inter Milan manager makes bold statement over Ivan Perisic’s transfer decision

While the Red Devils are reveling in the ambiance of a barnstorming Premier League kick-off with a 4-0 win over the Hammers, Jose Mourinho will be looking to build on the momentum.

Away from the impressive Premier League start, Manchester United may have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Croatian international and Inter Milan attacker Ivan Perisic, as the 28-year-old star has accepted fate and is determined to continue lacing his boots for the San Siro outfit, according to Sky sport.

Man United have been credited with interest for Perisic since the opening of the transfer window but all their offers for the star has been met with outright rebuff.  Inter Milan have valued the winger at £48.5 million but United’s last offer for him was £40m.

There was even a twist in the transfer saga – Inter Milan were willing to let go of the star winger but on the condition that Anthony Martial is included in the deal. However, the Red Devils refused to budge to the demands of the San Siro giants and it now appears that Mourinho may have to look elsewhere to bolster his team before the close of the window.

Inter Milan’s manager Luciano Spalletti was quizzed by Sky Italia regarding the Man United’s failed move for Perisic and he said:

“Perisic is determined to stay.

“There was a moment [when he considered moving], but then he spoke like a footballer who is interested in doing the right thing for his professionalism and he drew a conclusion.”

Jose Mourinho has bemoaned the dearth of transfer activities at the club since the signing of Nemanja Matic and has reiterated his desire to sign a player before the close of the window.

United have been linked with a move for Gareth Bale but it will take a colossal offer to prise the Welsh star away from the Santiago Bernabeu. The transfer window is still very much open and we cannot rule out surprises.

Under the auspices of Sir Alex Ferguson, United utilised their flanks and Mourinho is poised to take a cue and add a classy winger, as he looks to bring back the glory days to United.
