Rumours and speculations are the new trends reigning in the football world as far as transfers are concerned. Round the year different news keeps flooding the media about the different potential big money moves.
There was once the rumour of Lionel Messi being linked with a move to either Man City or Chelsea, and while that has continue to linger in the media, his Barcelona team-mates Neymar is said to be on Manchester United’s radar with the club planning a world record fee to lure him to Old Trafford.
There has been so much hype about the rumour in the media and it can be very boring giving the fact that only of such rumours see the light of the day, if not many big clubs would be spending up to half a billion pounds on transfers.
Some disregards such rumours while some gullible folks with some sorts of “false convictions” believe it will happen. Let’s take a look at how possible this is.
The first shot is the finance. Gone are the days when United were prudent in the transfer market. Over the last three seasons United have broken the British and World transfer records in Angel Di Maria and Paul Pogba respectively. United topped the most recent football rich list so triggering Neymar’s release clause of €200 million is definitely not an issue.
And it should be noted that triggering Neymar’s buyout clause does not necessarily mean Barca would be willing to sell the Brazilian, though it may difficult to turn down such an amount.
And lastly, assuming United are successful with the previous two, Neymar needs to be convinced that he is moving to a club worth his ego, however the presence of Jose Mourinho may do the trick and build the team around him.
With Wayne Rooney leaving he may become the new face of the club and will definitely boost the financial fortune while also boosting his ego.
Nevertheless this is football where the unimagined occurs.
