Journalist reveals three star forwards on Mourinho’s wish list

 By Dave Marshall

Jose Mourinho and Manchester United are looking good for the title after a convincing 4-0 victory over West Ham on the opening day of the season. Goals from Romelu Lukaku, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Anthony Martial condemned the Hammers to yet another defeat at Old Trafford but it seems that Mourinho is not done in the summer transfer window. Despite bringing in the likes of Lukaku, Matic and Lindelof, there is still a feeling that Mourinho wants another winger that will offer more creativity on the flanks.

The Portuguese manager is known for always winning the league in his second season at every club he has managed so far in his career and will be looking to continue that run in Manchester. United last won the league five years ago in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season in charge at Old Trafford, but Mourinho is quietly building something at the club.

His squad looks good but according to journalist, Duncan Castles who spoke on the Transfer Window podcast, but it could have been better had he signed any of the star players he had in mind at the beginning of the transfer window.

Mourinho knows that a world class talent is needed to help compete for the Champions League and tried to sign one of Bale, Griezmann and Neymar, but for one reason or the other, those deals didn’t come to fruition.

When asked about United’s transfer business, Castles said: “Antoine Griezmann he tried to get, Neymar he was involved in trying to persuade to come to Manchester United, he’s tried to get Gareth Bale.

“He obviously sees that Man Utd need more of that if he’s to make them what he’s expected to – contenders for the Champions League.” he added

Mourinho won two trophies last term plus the Community Shield but is gunning for the league and Champions League this time around to re-install United on top of the pile for English football. Neymar was too expensive to be bought and he went to PSG for a world record transfer fee, while Griezmann decided to stay with Atletico Madrid in the wake of their transfer ban and Bale is still wanted at Real Madrid by manager, Zinedine Zidane. However, with the transfer window not closing till a fortnight, transfer business may still go on at Old Trafford.

It’s funny how Mourinho needs to spend all that money when you consider what Alex Ferguson did without spending that kind of money. Makes one appreciate what a great manager he was.
