When Andrei Kanchelskis left Manchester United in 1995, his exit was one of the most unpopular in Old Trafford history.
His transfer to Everton was acrimonious to say the least after a successful spell in Manchester where he won two league titles; and the controversy over the move lingered on for years, with Sir Alex Ferguson making comments which alluded to irregular activity by the player’s representatives.
Kanchelskis himself has always maintained a silence on the subject, until now, in the just-released ‘You Can’t Win Anything With Kids’, a look back at Manchester United’s 1995/96 season. The former winger lifts the lid on the real reason he left the club and whether or not he regrets the decision all this time later.
