According to report from The Metro, Manchester United superstar, Paul Pogba is set to miss tomorrow’s crucial Champions League clash against Sevilla at Old Trafford. The 24-year-old Frenchman was missing in last weekend’s defeat of Liverpool, with a brace from Marcus Rashford helping us take all three points over the Anfield outfit.
Pogba was believed to have picked up a knock before the game last weekend, and is now a doubt for the Round of 16 second leg clash against Sevilla, as he was not pictured alongside his teammates training for the game at United’s training ground, Carrington. The game against the Spanish outfit is finely poised after a drab goalless draw at the Ramon Sanchez Pijuan last month, meaning that United progressing to the next round is not cast in stone.
Pogba had picked up a thigh injury in the lead-up to the clash against Liverpool, but was expected to feature at Old Trafford on Tuesday night. Speaking after United’s victory over Liverpool, Mourinho was asked whether Pogba would be fit to take on Sevilla. He responded by saying that, “I don’t know, He’s downstairs now and I will go and speak with him.
“The injury? It was contact with a player in the last minute of the training session [on Friday]. If I finished the session one minutes before it wouldn’t have happened.” He added.
The former Juventus man has not been at his best in recent matches, but has impressed a lot this season, his mini-slump aside. In his absence and loss of form, young midfielder, Scott McTominay has impressed in the middle of the park, though Mourinho would choose Pogba over the Scot any day, anytime.
