Man United making progress in the chase for Ivan Perisic

The dust raised by the Ivan Perisic to Manchester United has refused to settle and, it now looks as though this deal would drag until the transfer deadline day if proper precautions are not taken.

Manchester United are scrambling to finalize the signing of Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan before the Italian giants head to China for their pre-season tour of Asia.

There has been increased speculation that United are finally willing to cough up to £44m for his services, as Jose Mourinho and the United transfer chiefs know that Inter will like to keep him. However, the 28-year-old Croatian international is keen to leave San Siro and posted a cryptic message on Instagram on Monday.

He posted a praying emoji beside the image of a plane, which many fans had termed to be that he hoped to be excused from Inter’s travelling party, as he looks to sign for United before they fly out. Inter players are meant to assemble at the club’s Appiano Gentile training base on Tuesday morning in anticipation of their midday flight to Nanjing in China, as they look to build up their fitness under new manager, Luciano Spaletti. There had been increased push by United to get the deal over the line, as Walter Sabatini, the Inter director had recently stated, that the club won’t entertain any offers for the flying winger once their pre-season gets underway.

Respected journalist, Miguel Delaney, the Independent Chief Football writer, stated on Sunday that a deal was imminent. Jose Mourinho highly regards Perisic as he believes the player will offer an increased threat on his wings, as his direct running and crossing ability is in contrast with the other wide men at the club, and with the presence of Romelu Lukaku, United need all the crosses they can muster to dominate teams aerially.

Reports emerged that betting companies have stopped the betting on Perisic joining United, but bettors could yet utilise ladbrokes bonus code for placing their money on the forward joining the club this summer.

Inter are still dragging their feet over this deal, as they apparently are tracking a replacement for their man, with Lazio’s star Keita Balde said to be the likely fall-back option if Perisic eventually leaves for Man United.

He made 42 appearances last season, as Inter wobbled and fumbled, changing managers on three occasions, but didn’t allow his personal standards to drop, as he registered an impressive 11 goals and 13 assists.

Persic is an upgrade on what is currently available at Mourinho’s disposal, as he is quite adept at delivering crosses into the opposition box; one that new signing Lukaku could latch onto so well.
