Man United target James Rodriguez wants transfer completed in 48 hours – report

Colombian superstar, James Rodriguez has reportedly told his agent, Jorge Mendes to find him a new club as talks intensify for Real Madrid to sign a potential replacement. Dani Ceballos, the youngster from Real Betis is close to signing for the Spanish giants, making it imperative that James finds a new destination before the club’s pre-season tour which kicks off on Tuesday according to Spanish publication, AS.

25-year-old Colombian, James is at a crossroads in his career and wants a new move, as he has grown disillusioned with life at the club, given the manner in which manager, Zinedine Zidane pushed him down the pecking order at the club. Spanish publication Sport report that Mendes has met with clubs such as Manchester United – who remain strong favourites – Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Juventus and PSG in a bid to find a new club for his client.

Real Madrid have consistently played hardball with any club over the signing of the former Monaco man as they look to recoup a major part of their transfer outlay three years ago. Under Florentino Perez back in 2014, Real Madrid paid a whopping £70m to prise him from principality club, Monaco after he shone like a million stars at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. No club has been willing to meet that valuation, which has proved to be a stumbling block to any deal coming to completion.

Rodriguez scored 11 times and created a further 8 in just 32 matches last season with most of his appearances coming from the substitutes bench, as he struggled for a run in the first team, given that manager, Zidane preferred the more balanced midfield trio of Casemiro, Modric and Kroos.
