After Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho publicly declared that he is still on the lookout for two more signings: a midfielder and a winger, it was expected that the club will look to wrap up moves for both Nemanja Matic and Ivan Perisic respectively but those deals are stalling as their clubs are holding out for premium prices.
Matic is still expected to go through as he is desperate to link up with Jose Mourinho, but Perisic is looking less likely by the day as both clubs have so far refused to shift ground on their valuations. Inter want £48m for his signature while United are willing to pay only £35m.
According to Calciomercatoweb, this has led the Red Devils to make contingency plans in case the deal for the Croatian international fails, and have identified RB Leipzig’s classy winger, Emil Fosberg as an alternative.
The Sweden international impressed for the newly promoted German Bundesliga team last term, as they stunningly finished in 2nd place, only behind perennial winners, Bayern Munich.
Jose Mourinho wants to add more quality to his squad given that there is Champions League football in the coming season, and apparently wants a winger that is direct and can put in quality crosses; a trait that will benefit new signing, Romelu Lukaku who got signed from Everton in a £75m deal earlier this month.
25-year-old Fosberg earned admirers from various clubs around Europe including Liverpool and Arsenal back in May, but a move didn’t materialise. It is believed United will step up the chase for Fosberg who is valued at around £40m. He joined the East German outfit in 2015 from Malmo FF and has since made 79 appearances for the Bundesliga high flyers, and scoring on 16 occasions.
Let get it done. Tired of all this speculations. The team is not ready yet to challenge for premierleague.
