Inter Milan sporting director, Piero Ausilio has stated that the club are looking to extend the contract of 28-year-old Croatian international, and that has dealt a blow to Manchester United who have been interested in taking him to Old Trafford, in a deal worth £40 million.
The Inter player has been in sparkling form to continue his impressive form of last season. Manager, Jose Mourinho had been keen on the player to add width to his attacking midfield to help new signing, Romelu Lukaku, who thrives on crosses from the flanks. However, Mourinho has admitted that the signing of Matic could be the last transfer activity seen this summer.
Piero Ausilio, the sporting director, told Mediaset Premium: “I don’t understand where some of these stories come from, (Antonio) Candreva has never been on the market and we have absolutely no intention of selling him.
“The same goes for Perisic, who is an important player and we are currently discussing a new contract with him,” he was quoted as saying via Daily Mail.
Perisic is also keen on a move to Old Trafford as he has never hidden his ambition to play alongside the best players in the English Premier Division. However he has remained a model professional, performing well in pre-season and not allowing the transfer speculation affect him.

Perisic is a classy left footed winger known for his dribbling, pace and extreme creativity. He was majestic for Inter last term, who endured a torrid season despite a good start. The 2010 Champions League winners finished seventh, outside the European places.
