Manchester United gain advantage in pursuit of £55 million-rated star winger

Despite Arsenal looking nails-on to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco, it would seem that the Gunners have withdrawn their interest in signing the 21-year-old Frenchman, leaving Manchester United in pole position for his signature.

Arsenal had been looking to sign the left winger to replace Alexis Sanchez who has set his sights on leaving Arsenal, but with the Chilean set to stay at the club, the chase is likely off according to the Arsenal manager. Manchester United have also been linked to Lemar, and a deal could be completed in time before the summer transfer window shuts next week Thursday.

United have laid down a marker as to our ambitions this season, winning our opening two matches of the season with an impressive scoreline of 4-0 against the likes of West Ham and Swansea. Jose Mourinho had admitted that he wants a left footed winger to add more directness to the left side of attack as we only boast of inverted wingers: players who like to cut in and then shoot instead of looking for the striker up top. We have been linked to the likes of Ivan Perisic and Gareth Bale, but both transfers have been met by brickwalls by the players clubs.

Wenger when asked about the pursuit of Lemar, he appeared forlorn and maybe accepted that a deal won’t happen this season. He said: It’s dead because Monaco has closed the door definitely”.

Lemar was majestic for Monaco as they won the Ligue 1 and also reached the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League under the stewardship of Leonardo Jardim. He is a classy attacking midfielder known for his pace, trickery, creativity and vision. In 55 matches, he scored 14 and created 17 more.

Arsenal should look for a manager who is up to date in the World of Football if the reason of giving up on signing Thomas Lemar for £ 55m , , then they should not be thinking of playing in the premier league for long .
