Despite boasting a number of players at are labelled as the future of the club, Manchester United are looking at signing 14 year old wonderkid, Lucas Gomes. The player currently plays for the academy of Swedish giants, Malmo FF and was at Carrington for trials back in October, and it would seem that United are very impressed with his performances as we are closer to signing the player.
Manchester United are on a spree of signing the world’s best young players to match the academy setups of rivals, Manchester City and Chelsea.
Sporting director, Mikael Brandup has claimed that while the Swedish club want to keep the player he knows that they are powerless to stop him from joining the 20-time English champions. United were so impressed with his performance that it is believed that he may join at the end of the season as terms and contract stipulations continue to be negotiated.
Brandup spoke about the teenage attacker with Skanesport, ‘‘Lucas was in Manchester for week 44 and unfortunately I do not think we’ll keep him.
‘‘He moved here from Karlskrona in the autumn of 2016 to go to our sports school and, of course, he might have to wait until he left the school before moving back.”
‘But I understand he’s impressed with United,” He added.
United turn attention to the Premier League this weekend after a 2-1 victory over CSKA Moscow in midweek. We take on Manchester City on Sunday as we know that anything short of a victory will hamper our chances of winning the league. Lucas Gomes, maybe in the future will have a part to play in these sort of games.
