
Manchester United have been dominant in the first three matches of the Premier League season, boasting an 100% record but our run would be halted by the international break. The leagues across Europe will be on recess till next weekend meaning that United have a number of first team internationals flying around the world to turn out for their national teams in World Cup qualifiers ahead of next year’s Mundial in Russia.
From the CONMEBOL region, which is south America, Argentina goalkeeper, Sergio Romero is expected to be in goal for Argentina when they travel to Uruguay on Thursday before playing at home to Venezuela some five days later. Antonio Valencia is expected to win his 90th cap for Ecuador when they play Brazil on Thursday and against Peru on Tuesday.
In Europe, the likes of Jesse Lingard, Chris Smalling, Marcus Rahsford and Phil Jones have been called up by England manager, Gareth Southgate for the upcoming qualifiers against Malta and Slovakia. Jones and Rashford have been impressive at the beginning of the season while Lingard and Smalling are yet to have sufficient game time. Spain’s David de Gea and club teammate, Matteo Darmian have been called up by Spain and Italy respectively and will lock horns on Friday.
High flying Armenian captain, Henrikh Mkhitaryan will hope to lead his country past Romania and Denmark. For Belgium, Romelu Lukaku and Marouane Fellaini are in the squad to face Gilbratar at home and then away at Greece. Paul Pogba of France and Netherlands player, Daley Blind will put club sentiments aside when both play in the qualifiers on Thursday. Both players have looked impressive this season and will look to carry that form to their country’s games. France host Luxembourg three days later.
Anchorman, Nemanja Matic will hope to help Serbia get past Moldova on Saturday while they face a tough away game in Dublin against Republic of Ireland. Summer signing, Victor Lindelof will be hoping to play for Sweden in matches against Belarus and Bulgaria.
The CAF World Cup qualifiers will see Ivorian, Eric Bailly play a double header against Gabon.
