Manchester United Football Club have a rich history of nurturing young talents and improving them as players. In recent memory, just look at Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. Now, reports are stating that the Red Devils could be about to make a move for one of the hottest talents in the world. A look at the one of the betting sites show the bookies are accepting bets on Dembele leaving Dortmund this summer as well as Aubameyang who has been linked with United as well.
According to The Sun, who claims that Jose Mourinho is ready to test Borussia Dortmund’s resolve regarding the signature of OusmaneDembele. The 19-year-old sensation is making a real name for himself out in Germany at the moment, and is rapidly turned into a regular starter at the Westfalonstadion.
It is thought that Manchester United are ready to spend up to £50million on the French winger which is obviously a huge amount of money for a man who’s best years are still way ahead of him.
Predominantly a right-winger, Dembele has bags of speed, a deadly finish and the ability to create something out of nothing. Cast your mind back to pre-season when United took on the German giants. This young lad ran the show and scored one of the best goals I’ve ever seen in my life.
I don’t think it is a stretch to say that Dembele would improve any club side in the world, but right now if he moved to Old Trafford, he would have plenty of competition for a place in the team.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been the regular starter in the right-wing spot recently and we all know just how effective our midfield Armenian has been. On top of that, the likes of Jesse Lingard and the currently-injured Juan Mata have both worked wonders in that spot – so you’d imagine that at least one of these guys would have to leave if Dembele was brought in. With Lingard putting pen to paper on a new deal recently, and Mkhitaryan being a recent arrival, you’d immediately say that it’d be Mata who’s place at the club is in jeopardy.
If it was a straight shootout between Mata and Dembele, I think I’d opt for the former every single time. Obviously in terms of talent, the Dortmund man is by far and away the better option but Mata offers us something a bit different to what we already have. If I were Mourinho, I’d hold off on this one for the time being.
