Manchester United may be looking at the possibility of signing Romelu Lukaku and will lure him with a mega transfer offer to see him swap Goodison Park for Old Trafford, according to Dailyexpress.
The player has been sensational yet again this season, scoring 25 league goals to help Everton place 7th on the league table, but the Belgian is not content with the ambition the Merseysiders are showing, as he aims to compete for the very best trophies and also in the Champions League. Manager, Jose Mourinho is keen to reinforce his attacking department next season, and has identified Lukaku as one player that could help his cause of performing well in Europe and domestically next season, as per same report.
Lukaku has so far refused to sign a contract extension. His current deal with Everton runs out in two years, and has so far refused to commit to Ronald Koeman’s team. Dailystar reports that a bid in the region of £80-100m could be enough to sway Everton’s stance of not selling him, while a rumoured deal of £200k a week deal could help his decision making faster.
Former club,Chelsea are also interested in his services, but the transfer fee is a problem. The Belgian may also be keen to return to Stamford Bridge after failing to impress as a teenager earlier in his career. A succession of loan moves culminated with a permanent move to Everton in 2014 by Jose Mourinho while in charge of Chelsea.
Lukaku is a physically imposing striker who is known for his movement, finishing and physicality. Should he decide to sign for United, he will double his current wages at Everton that sees him earn around £100k a week.
