Mourinho eyes winger after missing out on Ivan Perisic – report

By Dave Marshall

Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho is interested in signing Spanish midfielder, Carlos Soler as an addition to the first team. The 20 year old Valencia midfielder has shone for the La Liga giants this season, as Marcelino’s men are only second on the table behind Barcelona.

The player has been impressive in central midfield for Los Che alongside Daniel Parejo and is the subject of an enquiry from Manchester United. The Independent reports that United are willing to meet his valuation of around £40m for his services, and are even willing to offer on loan Belgian, Andreas Pereira in a player plus cash deal.

The futures of Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata are up for question, as their contracts expire at the end of the season which means that new arrivals may not be off the mark. For a player that only broke into Valencia first team last year, his stock has risen so high that he is likely to be on the plane for Spain when the World Cup begins next year.

Alongside the likes of Zaza, Guedes and Rodrigo, Soler has become a key component of that team, offering quality and running strings from the middle of the park. Manchester United have a player on loan at The Mestalla in the form of Andreas Pereira and it would seem that United are ready to ditch him to get Soler.

After an excellent start to the season, United have lost our way in recent weeks, as a number of players have become injured and it would seem that José is interested in his services but it is interesting to see if Valencia would be willing to sell their prized asset. His current contract expires in 2021 meaning that United will have to pay a big amount to sign the player. He is a player who can add creativity in the midfield as the likes of Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have struggled to maintain levels of consistency.

Soler, 20 is a player that primarily plays as a central midfielder and can play in a number of positions including the right midfield and central attacking midfield roles. In 11 appearances this season, he has scored once and created 4 more in 931 minutes of football. If United do sign him, he will be a valuable addition to the team as his potential is very huge.
