Jose Mourinho has developed his football ideology on defensive solidity and this has been the rationale behind the cliché ‘Park the bus’ that has been used to describe most of the sides he has managed.
Manchester United finished 6th position on the Premier league log last season but we were second to Tottenham in terms of goals conceded in the league – the Red Devils allowed just 29 goals at the back of the net and Mourinho is looking to improve upon that feat.
While Mourinho has already bolstered his defence in this transfer window, he is reportedly looking to add a left wing back to his otherwise strong defensive unit and Tottenham’s Danny Rose has emerged as a probable signing for the Red Devils.
Danny Rose stirred speculations following an interview he granted last week. In the interview, the 27-year-old left back questioned the lack of transfer activities at his club and he revealed that he would love to play up north before be quits football.
Sunday Times journalist Duncan Castles spoke with Transfer Window podcast and he asserted that a Man United deal could be in the offing for Rose.
“Jose Mourinho is now prioritising a left-back as a way of solving some very obvious weaknesses in his squad going into his second Premier League campaign.
“And Danny Rose is one of the candidates for that position,” he was quoted as saying via Daily Star.
Jose Mourinho played with a make-shift left-back for the most part of last season as Luke Shaw endured a torrid season and played far in between games due to injuries. Shaw is currently on the recovery pane, leaving Daley Blind as the sole choice for the position.
Meanwhile, Rose enjoyed a barnstorming season with the Lilywhite last season until a knee injury scuppered his campaign in January. He is currently recuperating and will be back in action sooner.
We badly need more competition at the left back, especially players who can equally be so offensive. Blind gave us a foretaste against West Harm
Yeah, and we need Messi but we ain’t getting him. COYS
