Juan Mata will start in the number ten role with Schweinsteiger and Herrera in midfield.
Ashley Young will play from the right hand side and Memphis Depay on the left against his former team.
Otherwise, the defence and goalkeeper remain unchanged from the team that defeated Liverpool on Saturday evening.
James Wilson did travel with the team but is not selected even as a substitute – it is a bold move from manager Louis van Gaal, who has gone with a very attacking starting XI and the consolidation midfielders Carrick and Schneiderlin on the bench.
