Despite growing speculation that Pedro will sign for Manchester United, Barcelona have named him as their number 7 for the 2015/16 season.
The Spanish champions released their squad numbers and instead of leaving the shirt vacant or giving it to one of their new signings (such as Arda Turan who is due to join the club later this season) they have given it to the Spanish international forward, in spite of rumours that suggest that he may sign for the Old Trafford club.
Some sources suggest that the deal may be completed in time for the player to be unveiled at Old Trafford on Saturday while others say it may be next week, with Louis van Gaal keen to bolster his forward line ahead of the Champions League playoff.
Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has maintained that he wishes to keep hold of the player and with this announcement by the Spanish side, it seems as if he is in their plans for the immediate future at least.
