Manchester United are reportedly interested in hijacking Manchester City’s deal for Arsenal star, Alexis Sanchez and are willing to make Henrikh Mkhitaryan as a makeweight to seal the deal. United’s bitter rivals, City have been frontrunners for the signature of the Chilean superstar but are still stalling on a fee with Arsenal, and our latest interest in the 29-year-old could spark a bidding war with the noisy neighbours.
United are willing to pay Arsenal £25 million and offer him wages of £250k-a-week, more than City are offering but the player has refused all entreaties by the Arsenal management to extend his current contract that expires at the end of the season. The Guardian reports that Jose Mourinho would be interested in bringing Sanchez to Old Trafford and is even willing to pay him more than what City are offering.
However, the stumbling block may be Mkhitaryan’s wage demands, currently set at £200k-a-week, which Arsenal may not be willing to agree to. Sanchez was close to a move to the Etihad stadium last summer, but a deal fell through as Arsenal failed to complete the signature of Monaco midfielder, Thomas Lemar.
Below is a photoshop of Sanchez in a Man United Jersey.
Mourinho knows that Sanchez going to City would almost make the league a forgone conclusion as the forward will offer another attacking threat to what is already a devastating front line.
Our deal is more beneficial as they would get a fantastic playmaker in the mould of Mkhitaryan, though Alexis preference to reunite with Guardiola could prove to be a major factor. Sanchez is one of the best players in the league, and will offer quality to our team as we hope to hunt down City for the league title.
He joined Arsenal last in 2014, and has won 2 FA Cup titles in that time, with his best season for the 2006 Champions League finalists coming last term, when he netted 30 times.
