The speculations linking 28-year-old Croatian superstar, Ivan Perisic to Manchester United just won’t go away. The classy winger has taken his form of last season into pre-season and was particularly brilliant when Inter beat Chelsea 2-1 last week, and the transfer news continues to intensify.
Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho is reported to be keen on signing the left footed player, as he feels he will be a direct threat on the wings with his touchline running and crossing ability. The former Wolfsburg man is also interested in moving to Old Trafford as he knows that this opportunity is probably the last he will get to play in the English Premier League.
United are confident about the deal, but ESPN believe that the delay is being held back by Inter who are looking to sign a replacement before letting him go. Perisic has been a model professional despite speculations mounting about his future. He has been exceptional in pre-season as Inter look to challenge the other top teams in Italy to wrest the Serie A title from Juventus.
Both clubs have so far failed to reach a compromise about his transfer valuation, but United should wrap up the deal and complete the jigsaw of the United team after signing Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic already this summer. Here is a mock-up photo of how he will look in a Red Devils shirt.
Inter Milan struggled to impress last season as they had three different managers. However, alongside club captain, Mauro Icardi, Perisic was a shining light for the 2010 Champions League winners, performing consistently week-in, week out as his team mates capitulated despite a good start to the season.
Perisic will be of immense help to Lukaku, as his crossing ability is almost unmatched by anyone at the club. He will be an upgrade on the directness of the attacking midfield as the likes of Rashford, Martial and Mata are more indirect players that like to cut inside to find players that are further ahead.
He joined Inter in the summer of 2015 from Wolfsburg and has made 70 league appearances, scoring on 18 occasions.
