Manchester United supporters have been treated to a spectacular 48 hours with the unveiling of Memphis Depay followed by the transfer of Matteo Darmian and the imminent arrival of Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Rumours continue to swirl that the Reds may make further moves into the transfer market – who do you think we should sign next?
Morgan Schneiderlin
The Southampton midfielder has been strongly linked with a £25m move to Old Trafford even though the clubs appear to be a little apart in their valuations. The France star has been absent from the Saints’ pre-season games, leading to speculation that a move is imminent.
Nicolas Otamendi
Midfield and attack have been bolstered but the club seems in desperate need of a centre half. Many names have been mentioned but Otamendi – the Valencia centre back who plays alongside Marcos Rojo for Argentina – apparently seems available. The Spanish club appear open to selling him and the 27 year old is keen to move.
Sergio Ramos
As big a name as Schweinsteiger, this signing would have a similar impact. But as United continue to play cat and mouse over the David De Gea transfer, Ramos – all smiles, we may add – has travelled with his Real Madrid team-mates to Australia.
There are rumours that the Reds have already agreed a deal with the Spanish World Cup winner, though it must be said this transfer seems unlikelier by the day now.
A goalkeeper
Equally, though David De Gea is due to travel with United on their own pre-season, there are some who think we ought to cash in before his contract expires. If we do so, then surely United need a goalkeeper. Is it a priority?
A striker
Will Keane left on loan to follow on from Falcao’s exit and Angelo Henriquez’ free transfer. Robin van Persie is on his way. United appear in need of a centre forward – is this an area they need to address with urgency, or can Memphis Depay fill the void?
