Press Red: 1st July: A Crazy Handful Of Nothin’

Twitter went into meltdown yesterday as it was revealed that Sergio Ramos’ mother said her son wants to stay in Spain. You know when the mothers get involved, s**t got real.

Thankfully for United fans reading this and spitting out their cornflakes, fear not, the comments are apparently a few days old. And we have wracked our resources but we can’t find any examples of big money deals vetoed because mummy said so.

Still, there remains little advancement – hence that even being news. The Daily Mirror still managed to make something of a story and there is something of interest, apparently United will only raise their offer if Real raise their own for David De Gea. So much for the deals being separate.

There remains some determination in some to peddle the Arda Turan / Manchester United rumour that will not come to fruition, but, aside from that, not much else. Nothing with any substance that hasn’t already been covered in Press Red. It really does seem as if everything is slowing down in anticipation of something big happening, now the window is ‘officially’ open and it’s a new financial year.
